One child, One health Insurance card Project

One child, One health Insurance card

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) is a social intervention program introduced by government to provide financial access to quality health care for residents in Ghana. We raise funds locally to register vulnerable groups in rural communities to benefit from the program. The benefit package provided by the NHIS includes:  Inpatient services, Outpatient services, Maternity care and Eye care.

The “One Child, One Health Insurance Project” introduced by Hereafter-Ghana is to ensure every child get a card to have access to Free basic healthcare services nationwide to improve the health and well-being of individuals and groups in the communities leading them to become productive people in the society for growth and development. This would be done by providing children with life-saving avenues to avoid worsening of their conditions by providing them with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards to access health care on time, improving the health and well-being of children by increasing hospital attendance through health education and sensitization and also enabling families to stay in touch with hospitals for regular check-ups by giving them health education and teaching them the process and timely renewal of their NHIS cards.

We have registered and issued more than 4000 cards to children in more than 50 selected deprived communities since the commencement of this project, and we are still continuing with it.
